What is seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp in adults?3,4
Seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp is a common skin disorder that can be easily treated. The symptoms can include flaking, itching, scaling, redness and hair loss. In some cases, patches can become painful, form crusts, and drain fluid or pus. Often there are extended inactive periods followed by flare-ups. Seborrheic dermatitis is sometimes labeled as dandruff, but there are differences, including potential therapies. Dandruff causes scaling on the scalp, but not redness. Seborrheic dermatitis causes both redness and scaling. LOPROX is not used to treat dandruff.
